It was inevitable that Mazda would do yet another special edition of the MX-5, but this time it’s to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the world best-selling roadster. Miyako is the name and at first we thought it was forged from lost scrabble pieces found under the sofa. It turns out that the name relates to an island in Japan regarded to be one of the most beautiful spots in the country.
The special edition comes with an upgraded leather interior and some exclusive paint to choose from. Both the 1.8 and 2.0 engines remain untouched but with the Miyako only being £590 more than the entry SE model, the added exclusivity seems good value for money. There are a few other perks to this model such as improved audio facilities and realistically if you are going to buy such a car you might as well treat yourself.
