Nissan Leaf Wins European Car of the Year

The car of the year awards is something that makes its appearance on all manufacturers calendars. To have their product crowned “car of the year” would be quite the bragging right and a very good persuasive technique to use whilst selling the car. This year has seen many fantastic cars such as the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport, 2011 Nissan GT-R or even the latest Golf. However you may be SHOCKED to here that it is an electric car that has scooped the award.

The Nissan Leaf attempts to blend everyday motoring practicality with cheap and cheerful electric power. Though naturally we feel the GT-R should have won these judges do seem to reserve a hatred for anything with a hint of performance pedigree. Nevertheless this little hatch has leafed its way to the top spot and with a reasonable £23,990 price, combustion rivaling performance and large range we can begin to see why. We have yet to get the keys to a Leaf but when we do we’ll let you know, until then we reserve judgement.
