A Hot hatchback isn’t a complicated recipe. Take a fairly standard family hatchback that would be found in any supermarket car park, add a generous helping of power normally via turbo, stiffen the chassis a little, finish with swollen bodywork that looks like it belongs in a behavioral correction centre, and there you have it! Peugeot want to return to their hot hatch roots with the new 208 GTi.
The French company were once kings of this segment, oh how the mighty have fallen, but now the new 208 GTi wants to stand top of the pile once more. Though currently a concept, but more than likely to go into production within the next year, the car is powered by a twin-cam turbocharged 1.6 litre engine. Producing 197BHP and 203 lb-ft of torque the GTi will get to 60MPH in under 7 seconds. Top speed is pegged at 140MPH.
