The Porsche Macan is now available with a Performance Package for the top Turbo model to further solidify its position as the fastest SUV amongst its competitors.
The car’s twin-turbocharged 3.6-litre V6 engine has been treated to a healthy dose of 40bhp more than before, with the final output now at 434bhp with the Performance Package option. There is also an extra 37lb ft of torque to bring the total to 443lb ft. All this equates to a 0-62mph time of just 4.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the standard Turbo. More impressive, however, is that it takes this hot Macan 0.2 seconds less to get to 62mph than it does a Porsche 911 Carrera. The upgrade also furthers the existing performance gap against competitors such as the BMW X3, Audi SQ5 and Mercedes-AMG GLC43. It is also now capable of reaching a top speed of 169mph, 5mph more than the Turbo.
Porsche haven’t just added the extra grunt and done nothing else to the car, however. The Performance Package adds lower suspension, 30mm bigger front disc brakes (now 390mm) and a new sports exhaust system. Buyers can also opt for air suspension with height adjustment and a self levelling function.
The upgrade also offers Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package. The Exterior Package adds extra black trim, LED headlights and 21-inch 911 style alloy wheels.
The Porsche Macan Performance Package is on sale now for a price of £68,073, £5533 more than the normal Turbo. First customer deliveries are expected to arrive at the end of 2016.
