So, you have decided to buy a Porsche 911. Congratulations! Oh, you have even splashed out on the highly rated GT3 model. Very good choice! The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is an excellent car, arguable one of the best on sale offering a dynamic and engaging experience, proportions only a rear engined car can offer, not to mention 468BHP from said 3.8 litre unit. All of that as well as German reliability… Hmmm, maybe scrap that last one. Porsche stops 911 GT3 deliveries after car fires.
There have reportedly been no less than five cases of these brand new Porsche 911 GT3’s catching fire and going up in flames. That number, considering how few of them are about at the moment, suggests that there is a serious engineering issue with the car. Porsche has stopped deliveries of the GT3 until the problem can be diagnosed. To those who have already taken delivery of their new pride and joy the Germans are saying not to drive it until they have come to inspect the car. A bitter disappointment no doubt to those who are lucky enough to have one in their garage.
No drivers have been injured in the fires.
