Last night saw the opening of E3 2014, the years biggest opportunity for gaming studios to show off what they have been working on. With gaming being the fastest growing entertainment medium and next generation consoles in public hands, E3 2014 promised much. There was excitement in the form of Halo, Battlefield and Call of Duty but what about things on four wheels?
For us there were three standout moments that will be in your hands by the end of this year. Obviously there were others, but these were the headliners in our eyes. Two of them are brand new games, the other big piece of news is an addition to one of our favourites.
Nürburgring Comes to Forza Motorsport 5
Forza Motorsport 5 is a fantastic game and a true representation of what next-generation games are capable of. We love it! HOWEVER, from launch there has always been something missing. “The green hell.” Nürburgring has finally been added to the game with the delay being attributed to the 13,000 hours it has taken to create one of the most accurate virtual incarnations of the legendary track. The whole circuit has been laser scanned to simulate every bump and camber change on Xbox One. Over 26,000 trees populate the track. Finally, FM5 is finished… Best of all? This downloadable content is free and available now.
Forza Horizon 2
Sticking with the Forza theme, we see the return of the Horizon title. The first Forza Horizon set itself in America and brought together car culture and a music festival. With its success comes Horizon 2 which is set in Tuscany, Italy. This open world of vineyards and beautiful vistas looks amazing! A nice selection of exotic cars are at your disposal as well as a handpicked plethora of music. Also this game sees the first inclusion of dynamic weather in a Forza title.
We have been keeping a close eye on Project cars for a while now because as far as we can tell, this game has the potential to eclipse the great Gran Turismos and Forzas of this world. The super realistic simulator just keeps getting better and better as its November launch approaches. A wide range of race disciplines and iconic tracks are enough to get any petrol head salivating. Graphically it looks stunning and we absolutely can not wait to get our copy!
