Ssangyong are one of those peculiar manufacturers who tend to sit in the shadows of the industry. In fact these cars are so unheard of in the UK the Inside Lane team often play a game of Ssangyong spotting whilst on journeys to various locations. The cars may be of poor quality and of even poorer design but nothing quite gets the guys going like the sight of one of these freak Korean events on wheels. Look a Ferrari “YAWN”, Bentley just went past “oh good”, Ssangyong “Really? You’re joking… Go back I want to see it!” However our intrepid game is in danger as resent strikes and bankruptcy have left the manufacturer on the verge of death. But help is at hand in the form of Renault.
The company is said to be worth £350 Million, we’re not sure how, and the likes of Renault and Nissan are very interested in purchasing the faltering company. It is reported that eight other companies are interested, how this turns out we will just have to wait and see. We hope to review a Ssangyong very soon, for comedy value if nothing else.
