Subaru might not take part in the World Rally Championship like they used to in days of old, but the desire to compete is still there. The Japanese company wants to take on the established “big sellers” on the forecourts, but it knows there needs to be change in order to stand a chance. We recently tested the 2015 Subaru WRX STI and whilst a very capable performance car, it is let down by its interior and refinement. This new Subaru Impreza Concept points to what the brand hopes to achieve.
This car previews what future Subaru models will work towards in terms of design. Retaining a typically Subaru blunt nose, this stylish yet muscular hatchback looks thoroughly modern. Aggressive blades and slashes cover its body whilst touches of chrome add a premium flavour. Subaru want all future cars to sit on this one scalable platform which aims to be lighter, but also stronger than previous chassis.
Whilst the interior of the Subaru Impreza Concept is not on show, the company has stated that it wants to capture the attention of people who would not usually consider one of their cars. Cabin quality is said to be a key focal point.
Expect to see something more production ready next year.
