Tesla has seen huge success in America with the sales of their electric cars growing. The Tesla Roadster, based upon the Lotus Elise, proved the companies ideas had legs, but the Model S is the real hero of the company. The luxury all-electric saloon with a potential 300 mile range is not only handsome, but a genuine competitor for its combustion counterparts. Tesla are preparing to launch the car here in the UK.
With a Tesla store opening in Westfield London, the company aim to have the first right hand drive Model S on the road by March 2014. They say “Tesla is taking the UK market very seriously, and there are more stores and service centres to come. We’re also going to establish a Supercharger network so Model S customers will be able to drive long distances anywhere in the UK using our network for free, forever. The first Supercharger will be energised next quarter and we’ll aspire to have the entire country covered by end of next year.”
It is all sounding good with the Model S having the potential to make a real change to the UK car market. We can not wait for our first drive!
