The notion of a very fast saloon car is something that appeals to a lot of people. A blend of practicality and performance makes the purchase of a costly car easier to sell to the wife for example. Porsche’s Panamera may not be the most beautiful machine to look at, but its credentials in the whole “going very fast” department are undeniable. The range is currently going through a facelift and it is now the Turbo S’ turn to go under the knife.
This new 2014 car gets the larger rear window and front air intake treatment that its sibling have enjoyed. However, the interesting part is what changes the Germans have made under the bonnet. Power still comes from a twin-turbo 4.8 litre V8 but it now produces 562BHP allowing the Turbo S to get from 0-62MPH in just 3.8 seconds and onto a top speed of 193MPH. All this whilst getting 27.7MPG. There is also an “executive” option available that extends the wheelbase in selected markets.
The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S goes on sale in the UK February 2014.
