The Daihatsu Kopen was one of those fantastically modest little cars that offered quite a bit of fun for what you paid. Known as a Japanese Kie car, a small capacity car thats dimensions are within tiny proportions allowing for tax exemption, it officially made its way to the UK and was sold from 2002 until 2010. Honda recently revealed the S660 Concept that will likely become a modern-day Honda Beat. Daihatsu want to reignite a Kie car rivalry with an all-new Kopen.
This Daihatsu Kopen Roadster Concept makes its debut at the Tokyo motor show. The tiny two seater features a metal folding roof and a clean modern design. Powered by a 660cc engine that is mated to a CVT paddle-shit gearbox, the new Kopen clearly still has the aspirations of a sports car despite its small capacity.
Miniature low-cost sports cars? Bring on the micro-machines! This might just get interesting…
