2013 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG is 577BHP V8 Palace

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is arguably the three pointed stars most important model at the moment. The luxury limo has not only been completely redesigned to substitute its forefather, but also replace the Maybach brand. Emerging markets such as China are very interested in such a car and with a large global audience to cater for, Mercedes are to produce many variations. This is the S63 AMG, a Saturn 5 rocket with the comfort levels of Buckingham Palace.

Powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that produces a mammoth 577BHP, the S63 devours the 0-62MPH sprint in just 4.4 seconds and will not stop until it reaches its electronically limited top speed of 155MPH. Tick the “drivers package” option, however, and you can keep going onto a further speed of 186MPH. Equipped with every toy under the sun, including an “atomiser” that diffuses bad smells in the cabin, this S-Class could just be the ultimate sleeper. Carbon brakes are on the options list for the first time along with just about anything a wealthy client could wish for.

So; oil men, bank owners and mafia bosses alike… Present your chequebooks.

Inside Lane “the podcast” Episode 62

Welcome to a somewhat belated Episode 62 of “the podcast.” Due to bank holidays and some features that are soon to make their way to you, this episode comes to you a little late, so apologies for that. This week/last week we covered the Spanish F1 GP, BMW’s new concept car, the 2014 Mercedes S-Class and Honda’s return to Formula One. All of that as well as the latest news from the world of WRC awaits you.

Enjoy!

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Unveiled

The Mercedes S-Class promotes the three pointed star in its most luxurious form. Every toy under the sun, plentiful power and pure German efficiency throughout. This next generation S-Class is very important for the company as it will also replace the now extinguished Maybach brand. So enough speculation, it is time to lay some cards on the table. What have you got Mercedes?

The all Mercedes-Benz S-Class has alway been a force to be reckoned with in terms of technology, this 2014 model is no different. Equipped with massaging seats, surround sound, night vision, adaptive cruise control and even something called an atomiser that gets rid of unwanted smells. Stylistically it is more of an evolution than revolution, but details lifted from the new E-Class prove to suit its bigger brother. Engines include a 254BHP V6 and 2.1 litre 228BHP four cylinder hybrid, both diesel. On the petrol front there is a 4.7 litre V8 with 450BHP.

S63 and S65 AMG models are to be revealed later this year.

New Mercedes S Class Leaked!

We loved the old Mercedes-Benz CL with its bold stance and “don’t mess with me” exhaust note. It was powerful, comfortable and had an air of exclusivity about it as you were very unlikely to see another on the same road. Well this image of the redesigned CL, now named the S Class, was posted on Mercedes-Benz Dutch site and then very promptly removed.

The car is to be officially unveiled at the Goodwood festival of speed but it looks like the cat has been let out of the bag. We like the cars new LED lights and single bar grill as they complement the aggressive lines that have been preserved from its predecessor. No word yet on engines or other specifications, but we will keep you posted.
