Here in England our Police officers get by with using Ford Focus’, Vauxhall Astra’s and a handful of BMW’s. That is because the majority of “bad guys” they end up pursuing are driving a stolen Audi A3 with the owners T.V. hastily shoved in the boot. 99% of the time a BMW 5 Series is all that is required to stop burglar bill, but what if said thief had pinched a Ferrari? What if you lived in Dubai?
Money and wealth is everywhere in the desert sands of Dubai. Skyscrapers, expensive shops and supercars galore. Clearly if someones precious Aston Martin One-77 went missing, a diesel powered Vauxhall Astra won’t be much good to the police and so the officers in the land built with black gold tend to drive things a bit more upmarket. On their fleet currently is a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Nissan GT-R and a Chevrolet Camaro. Today a Brabus G63 AMG joins that list.
The lean mean Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, tuned by the world famous Brabus, churns out 700BHP from its 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 engine. 0-62MPH in a hot pursuit takes just 4.9 seconds and if the chase were to be taken to the dunes, this rugged 4X4 would just keep coming.
Bugatti have a prestigious history that is intertwined with luxury machines and performance icons. These two qualities are clear for all to see in the Veyron that they produce today. Bugatti’s racing heritage is something the company is very proud of and the next car in their line-up of six “Legend” special editions continues to celebrate the past.
The third model in Bugatti’s Legends series is named the Meo Constantini after a double Targa Florio champion. Based upon the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, this car dons a beautiful French racing blue and polished aluminium colour combination. In my personal opinion it is the best looking Veyron thus far. The colour scheme mimics that of Meo’s Type 35. Inside the lavish interior sports various historical engravings including fantastic Type 35 sketch style embroidery in the door lining.
Just three of these 1,200BHP, £1,700,000 car will be produced.
New cars making their debut never stay a secret for very long. Rumblings of incoming models get the media all excited and leaks, be it on purpose or by accident, fuel the fire. One such rumour that has been floating about for a while is that the fabulous Toyota GT86 may spawn a saloon variant. Thanks to the Dubai International Motor Show we appear to have our first look at the car.
The proposition of a well priced saloon car that is as fun to drive as the tail happy GT86 is something that appeals greatly. Checking out the Dubai International Motor Show Facebook page has revealed a picture of what it says is just that. The caption accompanying this image reads: “Toyota UAE sets to impress the UAE market with new Sedan! The all new wave design Toyota stand will witness the regional unveil of Sedan FT 86 at the Motor Show…Don’t miss it!”
The UAE show opens on Tuesday and so let us wait and see what this low slung four door has to offer…
UPDATE:
The image does appear to be a Photoshop based upon an early GT86 concept car, however, we get the feeling this is a place holder for the cars official unveiling. Why would the motor show organisers lie about what will feature? Toyota have yet to release any media on the car and so this could be a possible explanation.
The Bugatti Veyron… Mans triumph over the laws of physics. In terms of significant cars over the past 100 or so years this machine ranks highly. The Bug is coming into its final stages of production with only 105 left up for grabs. All of those 105 will be of the Grand Sport variety but before this beast drives off into the sunset, Bugatti have a few specials to throw our way.
Debuting at the Dubai motor show are three special Veyron’s. First up is a black and yellow example that allows passersby to view the cars exposed carbon fibre. Matching interior also promises to draw a crowd. The price? A cool £1.3 million. The following two editions cost even more at £1,490,000 thanks to their colourfully woven carbon fibre. Your choice of blue or green carbon will be paired with aluminium and unique rims.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an astonishing machine in design, engineering and overall performance. The gull-winged beast with it’s 6.2 litre V8 is to enter the Dubai 24 hours and in the process of training made this very entertaining video. WARNING this video contains one of the best 8 cylinder musical symphonies you will ever hear.
Take a 2010 Formula One car, someone to piolet it and an urban play groung in the form of a busy road in Dubai. At first you might think this would result in a huge accident but remove the traffic and the streets become alive with the sound of horsepower! Red Bull let their car off the chain and took a video camera to see the result.
