Porsche Unleash Cayenne Turbo S

The Porsche Cayenne is much like automotive Marmite, you either love it or you hate it. The vast majority of people who hate it lack time behind the wheel of this super SUV as its capabilities mechanically are astonishing. It can handle a good amount of the rough stuff too! Today the Germans bring us the most potent incarnation of the Cayenne in the form of the Turbo S.

The thing to remember here is that this is a big, particle 4X4 and not a sports car. Baring that in mind whilst hearing that the new Turbo S can crack 0-62MPH in just 4.5 seconds is enough to boggle the mind. This rapid acceleration is thanks to a 550BHP 4.8 litre turbocharged V8 that lives under the bonnet. Add a top speed of 176MPH into the mix and what you have is something explosive. Despite this fantastic performance fuel economy sites at a reasonable 24.6MPG. The Turbo S also gets its own set of unique 21 inch rims as well as a few other exterior tweaks.

Set to cost £107,460 it is not cheap, but then there are very few cars that can boast the same credentials.

Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Turns From Ugly Duckling into Swan

The Porsche Panamera is a brilliant machine in terms of its function. The super saloon goes like a bat out of hell whilst accommodating more than two adults in high levels of luxury. As a piece of engineering it is beautiful. As a piece of design? The vast majority would liken it to Frankenstien’s monster, however, the Paris motor show sets the scene for a transformation.

The long awaited “shooting brake” variant of the Panamera has made its debut. Named the Sport Turismo, this concept reveals what the production version is set to look like. Its gorgeously sculpted body really is a work of art. Under the bonnet is a 333BHP V6 that is paired with a 95BHP plug-in electric motor. Despite its good dosage of power the concept can achieve emissions of under 82g/km. Inside the maze of knobs and switches has been replaced with a touch screen display that is mounted to a steep center console.

We’ll take two…

Porsche 918 Spyder Laps The ‘Ring

The Nürburgring is the ultimate testbed for almost everything in the automotive industry. It’s seemingly infinite complexity tests every component to its maximum stresses and so allows manufacturers to perfect their product in the harshest environment it will face. Performance cars in particular use the ‘Ring as a benchmark of performance to show just how fast their masterpiece will go. Throwing down the gauntlet is one of the most important Porsche cars in the German companies history.

The Porsche 918 Spyder is not only their new halo car, but it will show to the world that supercars do have a place in the future despite ever tightening emissions laws. Powered by a 4.6 litre V8 and two electric motors, the 918 produces 784BHP. What can it do with all those ponies? It has just lapped the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 14 seconds. For a car that is still technically a prototype, that is damn impressive! That makes it 18 seconds a lap quicker than the last mega machine Porsche built, the Carrera GT.

Porsche Cayenne Gets Audi Power

A few years ago it was the case that Porsche were just about to acquire Volkswagen. How? Through some very sneaky tactics, however, this all fell through. The end result is now evident with VW completing their acquisition of Porsche last month. How long until parts sharing begins between the two? It has already started…

This is the new Porsche Cayenne S diesel. The motor is a slightly tuned version of Audi’s twin-turbo 4.2 litre unit. Crammed into the front of the latest generation Porsche 4X4 it produces 377BHP as well as an astonishing 626lb-ft of torque. From a standing start to 62MPH it only takes this diesel V8 model 5.7 seconds. Top speed is pegged at 157MPH. We have no doubt that this is simply the beginning of VW sharing its parts bin with Porsche, but the bigger question is, what will VW take from Porsche?

New Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Revealed

The Porsche 911 comes in many different flavors… Rear wheel drive, convertible, GT2, GT3, GTS, and so on. With the introduction of an all-new 911 series the process of launching this wide variety of machines begins all over again. The now current 991 generation only has the Carrera and Carrera S to it’s name. Porsche now think it is time to give the front wheels some of that flat-six power.

Introducing the new 911 Carrera 4 and 4S. Both models are available as coupe and convertible variations to ensure that everyone is kept happy. The car is much lighter than its predecessor and can achieve the 0-62MPH dash within 4.1 seconds in its near 400BHP Carrera 4S guise. Power for the two cars is pegged at 345 for the standard Carrera 4 and 395BHP. With all wheel drive putting those horses to tarmac you can almost guarantee that this car will offer a large helping of “grip and go!”

These models arrive in the UK this December with prices starting at £77,924 for the Carrera 4 and £96,619 for the 4S.

Porsche 918 Spyder Orders Up A Martini, Leaves us Shaken and Stirred

Throughout racings history there have been some very iconic interpretations of warpaint… These colours have come to define the machines that they made their canvas, nostalgia comes as standard. In my eyes there are two liveries that define the breed. One is the glorious Gulf Racing paintwork, the other is Martini. Porsche dropped us an E-Mail that got us very excited this morning.

Porsche’s 918 Spyder doesn’t hit the road until next year but its development has been made very public. The 770BHP supercar will do over 199MPH and complete the dash from 0-62MPH in 3.2 seconds, all whilst achieving 94MPG! This prototype car has been splashed in the Martini colours making a very bold statement. In 2013 the 918 goes racing, all bets are off as to who their lead sponsor will be.

Porsche 911 Gets Aerokit Cup and Performance Package

The latest Porsche 911  is an engineering marvel. It is crisp, precise, and balanced with the delivery of performance on offer from that 3.8 litre flat-six. The car is already selling in huge numbers and so if you were thinking of making a purchase you wouldn’t be blamed for wanting your machine to stand out from the crowd. After a performance edge as well as some unique exterior features? The ladies and gents from Stuttgart might just have something for you.

Kicking off with the Power Enhancement kit; this package offers a retuned ECU, a new camshaft, new cylinder heads and better cooling. The end result in a boost of 30BHP, bring the total to 430BHP, and a 0-62MPH time of 4 seconds flat. Also up for grabs is the Aerokit Cup pack. This option will fit a 911 with a new front splitter and fixed rear wing to increase downforce, as well as larger air intakes on the front bumper.

Porsche 911 Club Coupe Launched

The Porsche 911’s strongest attribute is not its engine layout, not its looks or design. It isn’t even the badge on the bonnet… No, this cars biggest strength is its ever loyal fan base. These ladies and gents literally would not buy anything else and often band together to form some of the greatest owners clubs in the world. The Germans recognize this and to celebrate it they have produced something rather special.

This is the Porsche 911 Club Coupe. Isn’t it just something to behold? Here the astonishing 991 incarnation embraces the classic detailing of its heritage. The ducktail spoiler and retro inspired rims really do define this handsome machine. Based upon the Carrera S, the Porsche 911 Club Coupe receives 430BHP via the additional Powerkit. To cost £135,000 and be limited to just 13 examples, this greatest hits model will sell out fast and is sure to be a future classic.

Porsche Shows 918 Prototype

As someone who is fond of BHP, large engines and overall performance, the way the world is changing isn’t exactly in my favor. Cylinders from engines are dropping like flies and we are forever blamed for the size our carbon footprint. The result is that many of us are slowly being forced down the “green” route like it or not. Now, I don’t mind lending Mr polar bear a hand, but I don’t feel I should compromise what I enjoy. Being green needs to be as fun as being mean to the environment. Porsche’s 918 Spyder may just be the perfect solution.

Set to enter production in September 2013, the hybrid supercar promises top of the line performance whilst keeping the owners conscious clean. How does 770BHP, a beautiful sculpture for a body and MPG that is beyond comprehension for a machine such as this sound? Sign me up! Porsche are sharing these images of a prototype just to quench the worlds thirst until the 918’s launch.

2012 Porsche Cayenne GTS Revealed

Today car manufacturers are looking for undiscovered niches in the market in order to gain every possible sale under the sun.  We have had crazy 4X4’s that pretend to be sports cars, the ever popular baby SUV and now the rush is on for each badge to produce what is being dubbed a “super SUV.” Porsche has added a sportier edge to the Cayenne with a new GTS model.

It appears that the GTS badge will one day soon be available on every Porsche model, but this morning we received word that the brilliant new Cayenne is next. Bases on the Cayenne S, the GTS is powered by the same V8 engine but in this form BHP is cranked up to 420. The Germans have also loaded the car with their 8 speed flappy-paddle affair meaning the in tandem with all that power, the high riding Porch will cover 0-62MPH in just 5.7 seconds and 0-100MPH in 13.3. The chassis has had a good going over to insure a more focused experience than other Cayenne models.

The Porsche Cayenne GTS will be available in July.
