Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Roars into Existence

When you want to go very quickly and carry five people in pure luxury you buy a BMW M5. Or at least you would have done in the past… Though the M5 today is just as capable as ever, its rivals now have something of an answered for the once outright king of the hill. Mercedes-Benz in particular armed with their AMG division have turned out many notable machines, but set for a Detroit motor show debut the new E63 AMG might just be their crowning glory.

Equipped with a 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 engine, the beast comes in both saloon and estate variations. The AMG’s appearance differentiates itself from the standard car more so than in the past making this E63 even more special. It truly looks like the anti-Christ on wheels eating unsuspecting hatchbacks as a lunchtime snack. 0-62MPH is completed in just 4.2 seconds but tick the optional performance package option and that drops to an even faster 3.6 seconds. These numbers are possible thanks to 549BHP or 577BHP with the package. Surprisingly, despite all of this, it still churns out a good 28.8MPG.
