The revival of the hot hatchback has hit fever pitch with just about everyone producing a spicy version of their family runarounds. Mini’s Clubman is a much more grownup affair than the previous generation offering a more premium interior and civilised driving experience. Despite looking long, this is an optical illusion as it is actually shorter than a VW Golf, it is actually athletic to drive. Meet the Mini Clubman JCW of which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
This new hot hatchback (yes I know it has barn doors) is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 228 BHP and 258lb ft of torque. 0-62 MPH takes a brisk 6.3 seconds and it will go on to a top speed of 148 MPH. These performance gains come thanks to a modified turbo, a new exhaust, and the All4 all wheel drive system. Uprated suspension, brakes, and cooling also joins the Mini Clubman JCW roster.
Visually this car gains the typical JCW traits with 18 inch alloy wheels, more aggressive front and rear bumper, as well as a subtle boot spoiler. Inside you will find a pair of body hugging sports seats and some alcantara.
The Mini Clubman JCW starts from £29,345 for the manual or £30,945 with an 8 speed ZF automatic transmission.
