The Ferrari 458 is a very special car. Arguably one of the best handling supercars on sale today, the 458 Italia with its mid-mounted V8 is both beauty and the beast. However, as accomplished as that car is we have always known that it wasn’t to be the ultimate incarnation of Ferrari’s mid-engine stallion. That honour is left to the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
Following in the footsteps of the 360 Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia, the 458 Speciale is an even more focused performance tool than the base model. Its 4.5 litre V8 engine now produces 597BHP making it the most powerful V8 engine the Italian firm has ever made. 0-62MPH is completed in 3.0 seconds and 0-124MPH in a very impressive 9.1 seconds. The Speciale has had a lot of aerodynamic changes over the original 458 with wings and active aero flaps increasing the cars downforce enabling it to pull 1.33g’s through corners.
