New Honda Civic Hatchback Arrives in Geneva

Honda Civic Hatchback conceptThe Honda Civic is a car that sells in high volume, but the appearance of the current generation car is a bit marmite. You either love it or hate it. That in addition to strong competition from Ford and Volkswagen means that the Civic competes in one of the toughest markets in the industry. Honda know that the new 10th generation Civic needs to be a world beater and our first taste of what the Honda Civic Hatchback will look like comes in the form of this concept car.

It looks really aggressive doesn’t it? Whilst some elements of this car will be strictly for show, I have been told by a representative from Honda that this Geneva concept shares a strong resemblance to the finished car. The silhouette is a much more angular affair which produces a unique profile in comparison to its chief rivals.

Power will be sourced from one of three engines including; 1.0 litre and 1.5 litre petrol units, as well as the familiar 1.6 litre diesel.

The sporting bodywork on this Honda Civic Hatchback concept also alludes to what we can expect from a future Type R. A central exhaust, large alloy wheels, and flared arches are all likely. Power is expected to come from a reworked version of the 306 BHP turbocharged VTEC in todays Civic Type R.

Expect to see the finished Honda Civic Hatchback before it hits the road in Q1 2017.
