As we have said before, the Porsche 911 is the worlds most successful racing car and the teams that field them often comeback time and again to the German performance brand. The latest car on offer to private teams is the heavily updated 911 GT3 R featuring a spoiler big enough to sleep on.
Still based upon the 997 model and not the newest 991 911, the 2013 car is considerably wider than the machine it replaces with elongated fenders to cover its wider track. “Porsche Motorsport significantly modified the aerodynamics. The front bumper panels, all fenders, the sill covers, the rear panel and underbody with rear diffuser received further fine-tuning in the wind tunnel. The rear wing was enlarged to the width of the vehicle and repositioned to work optimally with the redesigned body.” These changes will allow for faster cornering and later braking. The new 911 GT3 R is still powered by a 500HP 4.0 litre flat-six.
