It is quite rare that convertibles look better than their coupe counterparts, however, of late designers have been doing a fine job. Take the Ferrari 488 GTB for example which, to my eyes at least, looks fantastic minus its lid. The Ferrari’s lines just seem to work better when they flow directly into those large vents. Now it is the turn of its chief rival as the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder is unleashed at the Frankfurt motor show.

As inevitable as Monday morning, the convertible variant of Lamborghini’s baby bull has arrived. Officially designated the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder, its is powered by the same 5.2 litre V10 engine as the hard top. That means it produces 602BHP and will send its performance potential to the ground via all wheel drive. This car also receives start stop and cylinder deactivation. According to Lamborghini this little beauty is 40% stiffer than the Gallardo Spyder and produces 50% more downforce. 0-62MPH take just 3.4 seconds and it will go onto a top speed of 202MPH. Tweaks have also been made to the gearbox.

The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder looks spectacular with its angular stance. We are also big fans of this blue that seems awfully familiar to us…
