It’s an alluring proposition a convertible but when you need practicality and reliability it doesn’t seem very logical. A Golf GTI with all its refinement and German engineering is a much more sensible option. Even drives with vigor. But if you still crave that open air experience VW might just have something for you.
We saw a Concept for a GTI Cabriolet a while ago but this is the 100% production ready machine. Powered by the same 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that the hatchback uses, the Cabriolet is no slouch and even comes with serious kit such as a limited-slip diff and optional DSG gearbox. 0-62MPH is completed in 7.3 seconds.
