It is that time of year again where facial hair becomes fashionable for a good cause. It is of course Movember! Not familiar with the term? Curious as to why all of the men in your life look like characters from the 1930’s? Well, Movermber is a movement that aims to raise awareness and a bit of money for mens health. Over the month of November guys are to grow a moustache, usually in a rather comical fashion, and get sponsored with the proceeds going to mens health charities. Handlebar, box car, pencil, you decide on what your moustached alter ego should wear. The Bridgestone Bros are out and about seeking talented ‘taches.
For Movember Bridgestone have sent two young moustached chaps out all over Europe to spot really good facial hair. Charlie Chaplin, Magnum P.I. and Zorro would receive their seal of approval. Partnering with global mend health charity Movember, these two comically tackle the language barriers in order to shake the hands, or fist bump, those making a real effort with their facial configuration. Shouting through megaphones, scaring the locals and driving a moustache wearing classic Volkswagen camper van they hit the road. Setting off from their starting location on London they travel to Antwerp and then into Strasbourg. From there the next stop is Berlin with the final destination being Stuttgart.

When you think Mustang you think V8’s, quarter miles, racing from the lights and a soundtrack you will never grow bored of. The recently announced 2012 Mustang Boss brings back all that was pure about the Mustang at the infancy of muscle cars but with a 21st century twist. It’s lights, faster and better balanced than any Mustang that has gone before it; the Laguna Seca special edition of the car offers even more focused performance. Ford has just sold a unique variant of the Boss Laguna Seca for a mind blowing £281,250!
Now for that vast sum there are some serious performance machines out there that are very deserving of your purchase, so what makes this Boss so special? This car was auctioned at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson over in the US for charity. This Laguna Seca edition is painted in the Boss’ iconic Grabber Blue and it will be the only car of its type to sport this paint. Would be have bought it? Well it does look brilliant in that blue but for the money I would probably go elsewhere. However on the basis that it was for charity and that the bloke who has just bought this car has done a hugely good deed we shall commend his purchase.
Bond, James Bond… The worlds most famous fictional spy is often envied for his array of “toys.” Be it watches that fire lasers or belts that launch grappling hooks, the man is often matched by the equipment he keeps in his company. However it was in the film Goldfinger that the birth of what is now the worlds most recognized car occurred. James Bonds gadget laden Aston Martin DB5 is the epitome of cool with everything from machine guns to ejector seats hidden beneath the seductive body. The original car went under the hammer yesterday and sold for a sum that even 007 himself couldn’t turn down.
This very car was driven by Sean Connery in the film before being returned to Aston Martin and sold onto a private collector. It has only had one previous owner and has now sold to American Harry Yeaggy for £2,912,000. Allot of money for a DB5? Well lets not forget that this car still wields all the gadgets that Q fitted including machine guns, revolving numberplate, bulletproof shield, tyre slashers and ejector seat. Harry intends to display the car at a private museum in Ohio and the proceeds of the sale are all going to charity.
Quite the story and no doubt one that has left you both shaken and stirred.
The Vauxhall VXR Power Fest is a noble event arranged to raise money for the Help for Hero’s charity of which we are big supporters of. The event takes place from 28th-29th August and involves many stunts, races as well as other motoring related entertainment. A big attraction this year will be the Vauxhall Red Victor 3, a 3000BHP road legal drag racer.
The Red Victor drag team have partnered with Vauxhalls VXR sports department to create this hugely powerful machine. The car is still under development but estimates are that it will do 240MPH and finish the ¼ mile in just 6.5 seconds. The engine is an 8.8 litre General Motors V8; one that the team hope will propel them to victory very soon.
The car will be launched at the Power Fest and we urge you all to go, not just because it’s a good show but also to help those who have become injured fighting for the freedom we take for granted.
Last night Sir Elton John held his annual charity event to raise money for Aid’s sufferers. 700 VIP’s attended the event in order to have a good night out and also get some much needed funding to those who need it. At the event a very special Audi A1 was auctioned off for an astounding £350,000!
Now £350,000 can buy you a hell of a lot of car, so what was so amazing about this A1? British contemporary artist Damien Hirst transformed the compact German hatch into a thing of wonder with his skills. The vibrant colours caught the eyes of many potential owners but in the end it sold for that rather handsome sum of money. All of the proceeds go to the charity and the A1 to its new owner well before its November launch.
