How much would you spend on a car, under £2,000 or over £35,000? Either way the odds are you wouldn’t spend more than £20,000,000 on your next set of wheels, unlike an unnamed gentleman who has just bought a car at auction for a reported £27,000,000! The vehicle in question, that has now become the world’s most expensive car, is a 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic.
The Atlantic was styled by Ettore Bugatti’s son making it only one of three in existence. Today it was sold for this phenomenal sum at the Gooding Classic Car in Santa Monica. The previous record for most expensive car sold at auction belonged to a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa that sold for £8,000,000.
What will happen to the car now? Well its fate now lies in the hands of its new owner who we hope is someone who collects cars to enjoy them, and not use them as ornaments in an air-tight vault.
