2016 Audi TT RS Challenges Porsche

You have to admire the Volkswagen group for how they manage their brands. Obviously the emissions scandal wasn’t their finest hour, but lets take intergroup rivalries for example. Most companies would have written off the Porsche entry to the World Endurance Championships. Considering Audi, also owned by VW, already dominates why would you battle against yourself? Allowing the clash has done good things for both brands. Now thats same sibling rivalry heads out and onto the road with the new 2016 Audi TT RS.

The new Porsche 718 Boxster is a car the company is very proud of, but the cold hard fact is that the this Audi TT RS is faster. Powered by a new 2.5 litre turbocharged 5 cylinder engine, the Audi TT RS can do 0-62 MPH in just 3.7 seconds thanks to 395 BHP and all wheel drive. A 7 speed dual clutch paddle shift transmission manages the transition from engine to the wheels. Top speed is limited to 155 MPH, but tick the right boxes and it can increase to 174 MPH. A 2016 Audi TT RS roadster is also being offered, but it does weight 90kg more. It 0-62 MPH time is 3.9 seconds.

Sitting lower and sporting a considerably more aggressive body than the standard TT, the RS certainly marks itself out as a different breed. Its fixed rear wing is a deletable option if you would rather a more subtle look. Pricing is expected to be around £50,000.
