Over the past few weeks that Formula One testing for the 2014 season has been going on, it has now become clear to see who are the real winners and losers of the rule changes for this year. Red Bull are in real trouble with engine problems and overheating, whilst Mercedes-Benz appear to be the strongest team completing the most laps and running race simulations with next to no issues at all. Ferrari are another team who appear to be doing well. At least until Kimi stuffed his Ferrari F14 T into a wall. Kimi Raikkonen crashes out of F1 testing.
And things were going so well… 82 laps the Finn managed to clock up on the final day of testing in Bahrain before spinning his prancing horse on a curb and then hitting the barrier. The impact cleaved the nose of the car clean off and broke the front left suspension. Kimi said “Luckily, it was right at the end of the day, I’m only sorry because it means the team now has more work to do.” There are only four days of F1 testing before the 2014 season officially gets underway. Ferrari appear to be in a good position providing they can avoid further mishaps such as this one.
